Important Customer Information

As a retailer of electrical and electronic products, such as clocks, we would like to pass on to you some important information concerning its recycling and hope, that in doing so, you will play your part in recycling all your old electrical equipment within the future.

Why Recycle?

Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment. If you do not recycle electrical equipment it will end up in landfill, where hazardous substances, such as lead, may leach out and cause soil and water contamination – harming wildlife and also human health.

Throughout the EU, legislation now requires that the disposal of WEEE to landfill be minimised and that high levels of WEEE collection for environmentally sound treatment and recycling is achieved. In the UK the legislation is called the ‘Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2006 (as amended)’. These regulations also require producers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) to mark their products with a ‘crossed-out-wheeled bin symbol’ (see below), in order to remind you that the product should be recycled and not placed in the rubbish bin at the end of its life.

In addition, retailers (distributors) of WEEE are also required to offer in-store take back of WEEE or join a ‘Distributor Take Back Scheme (DTS)’.
